• They cannot give you the hotel name. Any legitimate agent has the hotel booked. If they say ‘it will be a good hotel near the Haram’ without a specific name, walk away.
• The price is suspiciously low. If a package is PKR 50,000–80,000 cheaper than every other agent for the same duration, something is being hidden — usually the hotel quality or meal plan.
• They ask for full payment upfront with no receipt. Always get a written contract with a payment schedule. A deposit is normal; full payment before visa confirmation is not.
• No DTS or TAAP or PCATP or IATA registration. Legitimate travel agents in Pakistan should be registered with the Pakistan Civil Aviation Travel Professionals (PCATP) or have verifiable affiliations. Ask for their registration number.
• They pressure you to book immediately. ‘This price is only available today’ is a classic high-pressure sales tactic. Reputable agents give you time to decide.
• No clear cancellation or refund policy. Ask what happens if you need to cancel or if Saudi Arabia changes visa rules. Agents who refuse to discuss this are a red flag.
• They cannot show you previous customer reviews or references. An agent who has been in business for years should be able to show you testimonials or connect you with previous customers.
